As a student and a part-time employee, my days are generally pre-planned and organized from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. I am sure many of you can relate to having agendas/phone reminder noted with all the daily activities.
Most of you can also probably relate to feeling like a zombie until that first cup of coffee in the morning for a boost of energy. Then reaching for another cup mid-day on days you did not get enough sleep. However, after stumbling on a few good articles online regarding the benefits of drinking smoothies instead of coffee in the morning. I decided to go on a morning smoothie challenge.
I like to start my day with a fresh glass of green smoothie. It is simple to make. Fresh kale, spinach, dandelion, carrot, kiwi and freshly squeezed orange juice. I like to use freshly squeezed orange juice for the extra kick//boost of vitamin C, or you can use water/coconut water for more hydration. It is important to drink your smoothie on an empty stomach because it is the 1st meal in the day your body encounters. It is lightweight, high in nutrients, quick and easy to absorb and which allows the body to use less energy and gain a lot more in return. Drinking it with or after a meal slows down/delay the absorption. LOL, your bagel in the way!
